This year I was able to capture some beautiful images of mom's nursing their children at the 2017 Breastfeeding Challenge in Powell River. It was a great turnout this year with about 19 moms latched on during the official "latch." It was so wonderful to see each participant and the love they all had for breastfeeding. It was also very inspiring to see not only babies but so many toddlers that participated in the challenge.
The WHO recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of an infants life, then continued breastfeeding with the addition of solids until at least two years of age. Breastfeeding is the most natural form of nutrition an infant can receive and it is so important that moms and families are supported during their breastfeeding journey. It's so great to see all of these moms promoting and supporting breastfeeding in our town.
Here are a few images I captured during the challenge this year. I hope you enjoy the beauty there is in breastfeeding and all of the love that is captured in these photos between mother and child.
