The Best of 2017
"Inhale Courage; Exhale Fear"
2017 has been such an incredible year for me at Little Bird Birth Services. Even though I have only had the business up and running since May, I have been able to witness 4 births, do a bunch of fresh 48 sessions, photograph the 2017 International Breastfeeding Challenge in Powell River, and do a few lifestyle/maternity photo sessions for clients.
I have met wonderful people through networking in the community, have built such great relationships with my clients and I truly have felt so blessed to be able to do what I love, every single day. I have also completed the Breastfeeding Course and can now offer breastfeeding support to members in the community, which is something I am so very passionate about.
I am so looking forward to what 2018 has to offer, new skills, more learning, more connections, more births, more photography, more love, you name it. I want to thank all of my clients for allowing me into such a special space with them. It's truly an honour to be a Doula and Birth Photographer and get to witness these families bring new life and love into their world. Each birth has taught me something new and I am so grateful for that. I have learned so much from the strength of mothers and fathers and the special strength that comes from each baby born.
I'll be ending my 2017 either with my own newborn to snuggle and hold and cherish, or I'll be entering 2018 as a mom of two. Either way, I am so looking forward to it.
It's so hard to choose my favourite photos from each of the births/fresh48's that I've attended, because each birth/session I attend teaches me something new and leaves a special mark on my heart. These babies that I get to see when they first enter the world will stay with me forever, just as their families will. Being in this business has taught me so much. Birth has taught me so much. I've learned patience, gratitude, what resilience looks like and what true beauty and power look like. It's always emotional being at a birth but this past year every birth I've attended I have been pregnant myself. This itself just leaves an even more special imprint on my heart. Although I cannot share the many many photos I've taken, I've narrowed it down to a few and I truly hope you'll find them just as special as I do.
To all my past, present and new clients - here's to a wonderful, safe, healthy and loving 2018. May you feel supported during your pregnancy and labor and may you feel empowered to fulfill the birth you've wanted and follow your passions.
Cheers to a new year!
